Karatina University held its 3rd KarU Start-Up Expo on the 28th and 29th October 2023. In collaboration with Mt. Kenya Hub and Nairobi Technical Training Institute the event was organized to bring together innovators to showcase their products, services and to also establish connections with potential investors and engage with industry experts. The Start-Up Expo was guided by the theme “Exploring Innovations That Transcends Boundaries’.

The event was launched by Director, Research, Innovations and Extension, Prof. Michael Lokuruka on behalf of the Vice Chancellor who highlighted the importance of positioning the university as an innovation hub. Prof. Lokuruka encouraged the innovators to go beyond software applications and explore tangible disruptive innovations in environmental science and climate change.
The Start-Up Expo attracted 17 teams; each team consisted of 3-5 members that participated in the event by working on their business ideas where a team of judges evaluated their performances and gave them insights on what to improve in order to actualize their start-up companies.
